Reserved Instances provide a billing discount of up to 72% compared to On-Demand rates. Unlike Savings Plans which are based on hourly spend commitments, RIs apply to specific instance attributes or instance families. They are ideal for predictable, steady-state workloads such as production databases and core backend application clusters.
